Long distance lover,

Never coming close enough

To risk a true commitment.

Seems you're expert with words

But still a novice at real emotions.

Each time I try to touch your heart

You quickly lock it away from view,

Yet you soon cautiously re-appear

As though urging me to try once more.

Perhaps as you grow to trust me again

We'll close the distance between us at last.

Watching Me

"I'll be watching you"--

As your words echo in my mind

I see your eyes as they looked that night;

The sadness they reflected from your soul

Was a sight I'll remember the rest of my life.

Alone, feeling neglected and rejected,

Sure your love for me was dead and gone,

I turned all my attention to another,

Trying to show you it really didn't matter.

Then, as our eyes met in that fateful glance,

I remembered the words you'd said--the promise

To be watching me no matter what we did,

And knew I'd failed an important test

Of my loyalty, trust and love.
